Secrets of Moscow tunnels
Immediately after a brief introductory word from the representatives of the Buka company, the organizers of the meeting, Dmitry Glukhovsky approached the microphone – the author of the Metro universe already known to the whole world. Is it on purpose, by chance, Dmitry said that he would begin to work on his new book-Metro-2035 very soon: “The book will be a continuation and completion of the whole history. “Metro-2035” will continue the plots “Metro-2033”, “Metro-2034” and “Metro: Ray of Hope” and will become, as it were, an interlood of the entire epic ”.
► At the entrance to the club, we were met by the rangers of the Order – associates and friends of Artem, the protagonist of the game.
At the end of the first part, Artem, the main character of the game, climbs to the top of the Ostankino Tower and from a height watching how three pre-war missiles erase the black nest (mysterious creatures-psychics from the face of the earth, descendants of people who survived the nuclear war). Events "Ray of Hope" unfold a year after the events of the original. Artem is tormented by remorse due to the destruction of blacks: only at the very end of his last trip, he managed to understand that blacks were not at all a threat to humanity, but rather, on the contrary, the only hope of salvation.
Suddenly the good and bad news arrives at the same time – another surviving black was found in the metro tunnels. Not everything is lost yet – you can find it, try to atone for your guilt and, perhaps, correct the situation. But the order, the caretakers in order in the subway, order the artem to destroy the last black.

While Artem is slowly going to his goal along the metro tunnels, a new war unfolds in the background between the Nazis, the Communists, the liberal democrats and religious fanatics. The reason was the D-6 bunker found in the last part of the game-a place where, according to different information, unlimited reserves of either food, or medicines, or weapons are stored. The heads of the warring fractions, everything as one brazenly lie to their people and do not talk about the true treasure D-6. Nevertheless, it is proved that it can become a decisive factor in a dispute for leadership in the subway.

“Ray of Hope” should switch to a qualitatively new level – they promise a much deeper elaboration of the plot, characters and even elements of drama, which were not in the first part. In addition, the game fully justifies the declared rating 18+. “Everything will be on tin,” said Glukhovsky.
Dmitry’s story about the plot smoothly turned into a demonstration – the light went out in the hall, and the show began on the huge screen.

For Artyom, awakening turned out to be extremely heavy. Still – wake up in a den of the fascists, you will not wish each other. Black also disappeared somewhere; It seems that he was captured and already destroyed by the Wehrmacht soldiers. Maybe this is for the better – a little traitor stunned our hero and threw it on the territory of the Nazis.
Having difficulty rising from the cold floor, Artem witnesses a strange interrogation and execution at the same time. At first, the Nazis calmly shoot allegedly a “genetic mutant”, a citizen of Hansa (the Commonwealth of the Metro Ring Line stations), whose skull did not correspond to some kind of far-fetched tabular parameters. Then the life of a captive communist was cut off with a shot in the heart. His last exclamation “The glory of the party and comrade …” choked in blood.

The third prisoner, unable to stand it, swears to reveal all the secrets, and then winks cunningly to Artem. After that, a hidden knife takes out with a lightning -fast movement and cuts his throat as an adjutant of the Wehrmacht officer. Artem instantly grabs an officer – two strokes in the stomach, and the body settles with a bag for the ground.
The exit from the locked room is one – through the garbage chute into which the corpses are discharged. The pipe takes the heroes to the very bottom of the fascist prison, which many inhabitants of the metro considered fiction and where not a single prisoner still returned. The prison is arranged extremely cunningly – from each tier there is an excellent view of everything that happens below. In addition, poisoning gas cylinders are mounted into the walls. At the slightest signs of anxiety, the end will come to everyone and at once. The fascists do not care, they have gas masks, and Artem with a comrade, one mistake can cost not only his lives, but also the lives of all prisoners at once. Wrapping to one of the stairs (“Move, like you are small, s-Suka, mouse! " – the actors traditionally replay), the heroes rise up and synchronously kill two fascists standing on the guard on two opposite sides of the prison.

Having pulled out several throwing knives from the body hanging nearby, Artem and his comrade go further to the enthusiastic whisper of other prisoners. Another rise, twisting the burning light bulb with bare hands (malicious shots were heard in the presentation hall), and here is another patrolman in front of Artem. A well -aimed throw of a knife into the soft tissue area … Clap! The enemy falls dead.

The next span, a turn into a dark corridor, a pair of patrolmen, which can easily be removed, all one can guess where the Red Army soldier Paul knows where to go. And finally the way out. The rest of the prisoners could not be saved – later the developers will tell us that the player will be free to choose whether to do it or not.
Then Artem finds himself in the hall, where the Supreme Commander flushes his brains to his soldiers. We break through the “ziga” crowd, the Fuhrer hysterically yells that we need to gather all the forces and capture D-6. It turns out that the bunker is already holding the Sparta group. But then, of course, siren and screams are heard – the Nazis learned about the escape. Then Pavel loses his temper and rushes to run, Artem – followed.
Next – the chase, shots in the back, jumping from the platform to the platform, capture of the drag and departure to the dark tunnels of the metro – the spirit is breathtaking! The hall explodes with applause.

Film adaptation "Metro 2033"
Film company Metro Goldwyn Mayer acquired the rights to the film adaptation of Roman Dmitry Glukhovsky. We did not miss the opportunity to ask him how things are with the film.

In the first part there were still two endings – secret (good) and canonical (bad). What will happen in the "Ray of Hope"?
In the last game there was a built -in “player diagnostics system” – depending on his actions (whether he was curious, did he study the world, spoke with other heroes, was good -natured and sympathized with people) at a certain moment we could understand that blacks were not dangerous For people. From childhood, Artem could speak with them, “let them into his subconscious – at times he had nightmares and visions, which were actually these contacts. If the player did not investigate the world around him, then Artem treated this simply as terrible dreams and did not perceive as attempts to contact. If the player was open enough, helped people at the stations, explored the world, thought freely, then Artem understood that these were attempts to contact, stopped resisting them, made contact and saved blacks.
No one was warned that there was such a system – according to statistics, thirty -two people out of thirty -three came to a bad ending, because they played the shooter – they ran, shot, killed, shredded and thought that they were doing everything right. Only one person out of thirty -three passed "with the soul" and discovered a good ending for himself.
In the new part, this will no longer be such a surprise, but the game will also try to understand what kind of person plays in it. The game will adapt to you. How – while the secret.

What is your share of participation in the project? How much have you influenced the development process?
In gameplay and game design, I do not interfere at all. I found talented partners and provided them with freedom of action – this is better than hire idiots and control every step of their step. But I created a story, and other people have no right to do anything with it, because I am not only the author of the idea, but also a kind of guardian of the integrity of the universe – I decide whether or another plot will not fit into the world, and so on.
In the "Ray of Hope" I created the whole plot and wrote all the dialogs. Then it was already adapted to the gameplay, the game designers cut it into levels, something was omitted, something was added-only for technical reasons, but the integrity of the narrative was in no way violated. I reacted quite seriously to this, as I would feel about writing a novel, even it seemed that I was doing too much for the game.
It's no secret that over the past ten years, video games have changed a lot. Do you feel this difference?
I will not say that I play a lot in modern games. Of course, before writing the script, I looked at a few games – from Red Dead Redemption to Call of Duty , – But I can't say that their script impressed me greatly. From the point of view of graphics, of course, this is a grand step forward, but from the point of view of the plot they did not seem convincing to me. They say very good BIOSHOCK , Although I haven't played it yet.
We distract a little from the "metro", the question is a little personal – do you play lately and what?
I have been playing quite little for the last ten years. When I was 13-14 years old, I played, of course, a lot. It was necessary to prepare for the final exams, and I played (and therefore was not an excellent student), but I passed Command & ConquerAnd Fallout , Therefore, the attitude towards the games I have nostalgic-respiratory.
As for the initial question … the better life, the less time for games. Games are still a certain form of escapism, and when life does not bring you adrenaline or other “poisonous” substances (laughs), you need to urgently compensate for this-then you hit games. But when this adrenaline overlaps through the edge in reality, which has been happening to me for the past few years, less strength and emotions are left for games.

In general, I go to the cinema little, but I constantly watch the series – “Game of Thrones”, “Homeland”, “All Great”.
